Easter was a busy day; I had to get up early before kids to put out the Easter bowls. We still have fun with the Easter Bunny idea but they don’t believe it really. I was just finishing up distributing the treats when Elias came in from the tent and caught me out of the corner of his eye. I told the kids that he just thought he saw me, he was mistaken. Wonder if they went for it?
We’d planned to go on a picnic maybe in the foothills in the afternoon but after eating our traditional Easter breakfast of waffles, strawberries and whipped cream kids wanted to run. They had each received a can of silly string in their Easter bowl so they ran around the house pumped up on all of the sugar, shooting their silly string everywhere. Finally each kid attached a leash on Twinkle and they all ran with her around the development. I can’t imagine what they must have looked like; one dog, 3 leashes with 4 kids.
No one wanted to leave the house in the afternoon so we made our picnic in our own back yard, using our camping table and chairs. Kids decided we were in Mt. Rushmore and made the sculptures out of our trees while Dale barbecued wieners and I heated chili.
We had to go to Santa Barbara to take kids home at night so Nate and I thought that it would be a good time to start the final plans for the China trip which is only a month away. Nate put our trip mostly together while I sat there; he just needs to make sure of the flight schedules. I know that we will need to cut some activities in Beijing that I’d like to take Mike to like Temple of Heaven, Pearl Market, and the Summer Palace, but we have many places to go and see. We will see what Nate comes up with for a final plan. Unfortunately 12 days is not many when trying to see China.
